If what you have against Rosetta Stone is their price, your point fails if you get it for? free (I'm against pirating, but a completely obscene price is one reason to get something for free). If it's their "immersion", they do immerse you as much as it is possible as an adult. I wouldn't mind a valid argument against Rosetta Stone, though. Personally, I think I really am learning. So don't bad name a good program just to sell your own so called alternative.

Definitely true about the adverting of Rosetta Stone. Immersion of any kind? is helpful. Even a Japanese movie you can buy or rent with English sub-titles. Learn a few basic phrases, watch a few movies with and then without the subtitles.

I really wish...I would've seen this very video...before purchasing Rosetta Stone.. TT-TT Its not bad, but its not...perferable too good either. I like it in the sense that I do learn a few things from it, but it doesn't go really into the important stuff. There was never a time where it took the time to teach Hiragana or Katakana. And, although it showed random pretty pictures of random pretty people and did the whole? guess-what-we're-speaking-about talking thing, it never actually

Sad thing is Rosetta stone is way cheaper than majoring in Japanese at a stupid college that doesn't teach beyond 500 kanji. . .unfortunately I didn't realize that till? it was too late.
